A delightful--but far too brief--visit from my dear friend Byron made this weekend especially fun!!! 30th September 200631st July 2006
: My journal has become graveyard of wistful quotes.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. -- Mark Twain I bet he wants me to flee from my responsibilities and to dive deep into the evils of the world and come out triumphant. I don't think it will work out for me that way. I never even went on spring break for christ's sake. I dream about finishing a good, long book and making delicious fajitas (without a recipe) in a gorgeous state-of-the-art-kitchen with lots of loud music and dancing in the room. So I guess Mr. Twain wants me to dive deep into that book, start sauteing up a storm, and put some serious money into my kitchen, sound system, and sassy friends. I got the message, Mark, loud and clear. I'm on it!!! Fajita/dream-achievement party at my place sometime soon. Are you down? 26th June 2006

Farewell Mr. Spelling. You made the world a better place. 24th May 2006
: Existential crisis.
Everyone talks all this BS about grabbing life by the horns. I grab life by the ass. I'm over it. 17th April 2006

Quote stolen from a recent post by
"When you die, and it really could be this afternoon ... you will not be happy about having said no. You will be kicking your ass about all the no's you've said. No to that opportunity, or no to that trip to Nova Scotia or no to that night out, or no to that project or no to that person who wants to be naked with you but you worry about what your friends will say. No is for wimps. No is for pussies. No is to live small and embittered, cherishing the opportunities you missed because they might have sent the wrong message." -David Eggers It's inspirational, sure, but it makes me feel nervous. I guess that makes me a pussy. Current Mood:

1. TRAMP JUICE Bottom shelf booze favoured by homeless alchies, the Scottish and teenage chavs trying to get pissed on the cheap. I recall the good old days of Early Times (is good times) Whisky, Albertson's Charcoal Filtered Vodka (the first alcohol I ever threw up), Special Brew (fruity and sugary, perfect for kids!), and starting off a night out with a 1.5 liter bottle of Strongbow Cider. 22nd March 2006
: Máximo de tres bebidas
As some of you already know, I've had a pretty rough 2006. I didn't post much about it because it was too depressing. So, rather than go over why winter 06 sucked, I shall tell you about something I'm doing to improve myself. On February 22nd, I decided that I'd had a few too many ridiculous alcohol binges and gave myself a 3 drink maximum until Saint Patrick's Day. Well, when Fat Tuesday came around I realized I should give up having more than 3 drinks in one sitting for Lent (Catholicism at its best). Here I am, still sticking to the 3 drink max. Saint Patrick's Day passed without me submitting to the pressures of the drink. So far it has gone really well, and I have only had one week night drink since the max started. However, self-discipline isn't something I'm particularly fond of (hello, anyone remember when I used to buy entire sheet cakes just because I could?). Occasionally I've felt a little mad when I couldn't fully partake in party festivities. On the other hand, I have lost some weight without going to the gym, have been able to serve my friends as sober driver on several occasions, and--for the first time ever--was able to go to a karaoke bar without making a fool of myself on stage. I used to think that I would officially start binge drinking again on Cinco de Mayo, but now that I recognize the benefits of exerting some self-control I will just honor the day with a 5 drink maximum. Hello, my name is Michelle and I've avoided becomming an alcoholic. *CHEERS* 20th March 20064th March 2006
: Looking for a new roommate through Craigslist is FUN
Dude 1: I am interested in a room to rent on March 15th. I am 23 years old and currently attend college full time. I am fairly new to Orange County and normally retreat to San Diego for the weekends to tend to my cabin. I enjoy the outdoors, mountain biking, sushi and museums. Please let me know if the room is still available. I looking forward to talking to you. My response: I bet you love cock as much as my roommate and I do, but sorry, we are looking for a female roommate. Dude 2: Hi There! My name is Tom. I presently live in a place where the quiet hours are from 10pm to 10am and that works great for me. I'm an engineer during the day, a yoga instructor several evenings a week, and I have a home in Santa Barbara that I commute to regularly (so I wouldn't be around much). Please contact me if you have a room available. My response: Sorry we are only looking to live with a female. I bet you're pretty girly looking though. Dude 3: I am a Medicare Education Specialist in the healthcare Industry and my girlfriend is an English teacher in San Juan Capistrano. We are very quiet and mellow and looking for a room to rent for the next six months. We have excellent income and enjoy sailing and the water. My response: Sorry we are only looking for one female roommate. We already have one couple living in the house IN SIN! 20th February 2006

Just like college life, graduated life has it's ups and downs.
The process of reinventing oneself begins anew, and with that comes opportunities for misunderstanding. Oh, and personal growth, but who cares about that crap. It's refreshing to return to a place where everyone knows who you are (or who you were? Hmm?). Thank you to all of the familiar faces who made my weekend voyage an absolute blast! I hope I can return the favor someday soon! 12th February 20067th February 20062nd January 200628th December 2005
: (Sub)Urban tribe, anyone?
Christmas 2005 was much better than the rest of 2005. I slept in, opened some lovely gifts, listened to my dad and older brother complain about receiving gifts, and helped prepare a big dinner. Thank you to 22nd December 2005
: Cable In 2006
This amazing organization, Cable In 2006, is raising money to buy cable for a friend of mine who is stuck in South Dakota without any entertainment. Right now he spends a lot of time reading and watching reruns of popular ABC and CBS series. These poor quality television shows are rotting his brain and may lead to the inability to read or control bowel movements. Do your part to help him receive the quality cable television programming necessary for him to survive a 5-month long winter! Every penny counts! http://www.jhwdesign.com/CI06/ 23rd November 200520th November 2005

: myspace
I've been on this myspace thing for about two years and all of a sudden it's cool. Who would've guessed? Most of my friends on myspace are from Cal Poly or LJ, however, there has been a recent insurgence of people from "the past." My elementary school best friend (we had the biggest fight in 4th grade and stopped talking to each other) found me last week, and I have three myspace friends from middle school. Is this childhood friend reunion happening to anyone else? Do you think there's a reason why it's happening on myspace and not on friendster or google? Personally, I'm more of a google girl! What has your myspace experience been like? 3rd November 2005
: Hey Kids!
reply to this entry with your name. 01. I'll respond with something random I like about you. 02. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you. 03. I'll name something we should do together 04. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me!). 05. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you. 06. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you 07. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you. 08. If I do this for you, you will be morally obligated to post this on your journal (not really). 9th October 200528th September 2005
: Chicago advice needed!
In Chicago... What do you do? What do you see? Where do you stay? Where do you eat? Do you rent a car? Do you take the L? Where do you shop? Where do you party? Where do you do something amazingly memorable? |
